The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers is the only internationally
recognised professional body representing shipbrokers, ship managers
and agents throughout the world. Founded in 1911, the ICS was awarded
its Royal Charter in 1920 and a supplement Charter in 1984 that
enabled international membership. With 23 branches in key shipping
areas and 3,500 individual members, the ICS branch network connects
the professional shipping community of the five continents.
Membership of the Institute (MICS) represents a commitment to maintaining
the highest professional standards across the shipping industry
worldwide. Membership is achieved by candidates passing the Professional
Qualifying Examinations.
PROFESSIONAL MARITIME DIPLOMA-ICS MEMBERSHIP
The Hellenic Management Centre is exclusively authorized by the
Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers to provide in Greece professional
training and education on the ICS Professional Qualifying Examinations
Syllabus. The ICS training syllabus is the only one that is so closely
adjusted to the international shipping industry's changing needs.
It is unique in its training approach as candidates are in the position
to directly relate and apply the knowledge, skills and expertise
gained from the course immediately on their work. On completion
of the programme candidates can sit for the Professional Qualifying
Examinations leading to full or affiliated ICS Membership, a mark
of professionalism in the world of shipping business.

The Professional Maritime Programme is addressed to shipping practitioners
who wish to upgrade their theoretical and practical grounding and
certify their knowledge and expertise in the field of their interest
in order to obtain a competitive advantage in the market. Applicants
should ideally have work experience and an English language qualification.
Duration and Venue
The Programme runs from October until April every year. Classes
are scheduled to meet the requirements of professionals and take
place in the evening, twice a week, at the HMC premises in the center
of Piraeus.

| The Branch of
Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in Greece operates under
the auspices of the Hellenic Management Centre. HMC undertakes
the administration of ICS Greek Branch, and provides the education
of ICS. Any shipping practitioner who attends the Annual Professional
Maritime Program can be prepared and registered for the ICS
exams. |
