1st International Summer Law School organized by Elsa Greece on “Maritime Law and Mediation”.
The 1st very successful International Summer Law School organized by The European Law Students' Association - ELSA Greece, took place in Athens from 19-26 July on “Maritime Law and Mediation”.
Participants were law students from all over the world: Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, France, Switzerland, UK, Greece, US, Spain, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, Czech Republic and Finland.
The academic programme contained a variety of courses outline and covered a wide spectrum of Maritime Law, Mediation, Arbitration, Piracy and Law of the Sea. Highly qualified Professors from the three law schools of Greece, lecturers of the Hellenic Management Centre, as well as Lawyers and Mediators covered various aspects of these fields and explained the practical perspectives of the issues raised.
At the same time, the cultural and social programme of this summer law school will be one to remember. Participants staying at the Athenian Riviera, enjoyed sightseeing, the beach, an one day cruise to the Greek Islands and a summer party!
In Piraeus they visited the historical Hellas Liberty, Piraeus naval museum, Lloyd’s Register, as well as the Hellenic Management Centre, where they attended a lecture given by Mr. Vassilis Chakos, FICS, General Average Adjuster on Marine Insurance.
