Visit of the UK Shipping Minister, Nusrat Ghani MP and the British Ambassador Kate Smith CMG at the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers Greek Branch

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) Greek Branch was very honoured to welcome the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Transport, Nusrat Munir Ul-Ghani MP, and Her Excellency Kate Smith CMG, Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic to their premises on Tuesday 5th of June 2018, on the occasion of the official visit of Minister during the Posidonia Exhibition 2018.

The British delegation met with members of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) Greek Branch and lecturers for both the Professional Qualification Examinations and The Queen Mary University LLM programme.

The Minister shared her vision for Maritime Britain, which was followed by a frank and friendly exchange of the issues facing both British and Greek maritime businesses. Mr Nicholas Tsavliris FICS, the Chairman of the ICS Greek Branch shared his opinions and experience of the relationship of the Greek shipping industry with the United Kingdom, whilst other members contributed with their thoughts about how this could be strengthened further.

Both the British and Greek delegations agreed that professional education with an in-depth knowledge of English law is an essential for a career in the maritime sector, especially for those considering working at sea.
